01The claim
Sold with the claim that a sodium chlorite solution activated with citric acid selectively destroys pathogens and cancer cells throughout the body.

Invented by Jim Humble, a former Scientologist who founded the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing as a legal shield, explicitly describing it as a way to sell the product under religious protection. Marketed aggressively to parents of autistic children by Kerri Rivera. Sales surged during COVID-19.

04What's known
Sodium chlorite plus acid produces chlorine dioxide, a bleaching and industrial disinfecting agent. There is no mechanism by which drinking it could target diseased cells, and no evidence of benefit for any condition. The FDA has issued repeated warnings since 2010. In 2021 Mark Grenon and his sons were convicted in US federal court over its sale; Grenon was sentenced to prison. Deaths are documented in Argentina, Colombia, the United States and elsewhere. Poison control centres treat exposures as a chemical ingestion emergency.
Documented risk
This is industrial bleach. Ingestion causes vomiting, severe dehydration, life-threatening low blood pressure, acute liver failure and haemolysis. It has killed people. Administered to children as an enema in "autism treatment", it has caused chemical burns to the bowel.
